			38. SAINT CATHERINE She was born in Alexandria, in an imperial family. Beautiful, intelligent, rich and educated, she was, at a very young age, among the wisest people of those times. She knew the Saint Scripture, trying hard to live by its rules; she considered Jesus as the bride's groom of her soul. She was captured by Maximianus in Alexandria and was horribly tortured, but she miraculously remained completely unscathed. Thus she managed to convert many pagans to Christianism.
